You can put what’s just happened at a Quad Cities convenience store on the list of unusual circumstances.
Two tickets that both won the top prize in Tuesday’s drawing of Iowa’s $100,000 Cash Game were sold at the same Davenport c-store. Someone bought the tickets at the Hawkeye Convenience Store, 6807 Northwest Blvd. in Davenport. The tickets both matched all five numbers drawn to win the game’s top prize.
It’s unusual for there to be two top-prize winning tickets in a single drawing, and this circumstance is even more unusual because both tickets were sold at the same store. We’ve checked the records and we know there is nothing amiss. We also know that whoever purchased the tickets chose their own numbers by using play slips.
The winning numbers in Tuesday’s drawing of Iowa’s $100,000 Cash Game were: 3-7-12-16-22.
There have been a few times through the years when multiple tickets that won large prizes in one drawing were sold at the same store. Sometimes the situations involved what I’ll call “family miscommunication.” Maybe a husband and wife each bought a ticket for the same drawing because they didn’t know the other had already purchased one. Another time, a winner simply had forgotten that he’d already purchased a ticket for a drawing and went back to the same store and bought another.
We won’t know the details about these latest tickets until the winner or winners come forward, but it will be fun to learn the behind-the-scenes story!
The $100,000-winning tickets must be claimed at an Iowa Lottery office. Our regional offices are in Council Bluffs, Storm Lake, Des Moines, Mason City and Cedar Rapids.
