Here’s an interesting idea that’s been brought up by a few Powerball players from time to time: They wonder if we could list the results of Powerball drawings in the order the numbers are drawn rather than in numerical order.
Let’s take the results of last night’s $80.7 million Powerball drawing as an example. The numbers came up in this order during the drawing: 23-47-10-20-54 and Powerball 26.
Now, I understand that some folks find it interesting to see the results as they come up. And if you want to do that, you can always catch the Powerball drawings live on your local television station, or you can visit Powerball’s Web site and watch the drawings on demand there.
Most Powerball players have let us know that they’d find the drawing results confusing if we listed the numbers that way. After all, the numbers on your Powerball ticket are printed in ascending sequence, so it just makes it easier to check your tickets if the drawing results also are presented that way.
It’s also important to point out that you don’t have to match the winning numbers in the exact order drawn to win a prize in our lotto games, and we wouldn’t want to possibly confuse people on that issue.
So, here are the winning numbers in last night’s Powerball drawing, presented the way you’re used to see them: 10-20-23-47-54 and Powerball 26. The Power Play number was 2. No one won the jackpot, so it climbs to an estimated $94 million for Saturday.
We plan to continue presenting our drawing results that way, and we’ll offer online viewing options in addition to our live, televised drawings for those folks who want to see the numbers in the order they were drawn.
