As it turns out the Iowa State Fair Lottery booth has brought someone even more good luck! A ticket matched all five white balls, but missed the Powerball from last night’s drawing, to win a $200,000 prize. Now the question remains, who has that ticket? Since the State Fair brings in people from all around Iowa and beyond, the winner or winners may or may not be from Iowa. Only time will tell as we start our search for the latest $200,000 Powerball winner.

A random number generator program is used to create quick pick plays within our gaming system. In Pick 3, the same algorithm is used to make all quick pick selections in our system, so even if you're making a straight/box quick pick play, you could still be given a play with the same numbers.
I hope this answers your question, Mark. Thanks for commenting on our blog! For future reference, you may always e-mail our webmaster at wmaster@ialottery.com with questions of this nature. Thanks again. Will post these comments to the blog for the public to see.

Mary, this comment is not about the Powerball ticket, but I could not find out how to pose a question to the blog-
Today's midday pick3 draw was 444. What procedures are used to generate the random numbers for "quick picks"? In all of the draws I have had, I have never had all the same number (pick 3 or pick 4). Is that because I am playing str/box? If I were playing straight only would the "all same numbers" come into play or do they all use the same algorithm?
Thanks- I enjoy reading your blog!
