What About The Top Prizes?

We just got a great question from one of our players about the number of top prizes in some of our instant-scratch games. It’s such a good topic, I want to share it with you here in the blog as well.

The man who contacted us noticed differences in the number of prizes available in some of our “regular” games and our holiday games by the same name that are just being released. He wanted to know if the difference in the number of prizes means that you have less chance of winning in the holiday games. The short answer is no, but let’s delve into it a little further.

While it's always interesting to look at the number of prizes available in a game, the numbers that mean the most are the odds of winning. Below is a comparison of the prize structures for the two Crossword games that are available right now – Jingle Bells Crossword and the regular Crossword.  You'll notice that the odds are nearly the same in both games. The only difference is that the odds of winning the top prize in the holiday game are just a smidge better than the odds of winning the top prize in the regular Crossword game.   

There is a big difference in the number of tickets available in the two games, and that's where the difference in the number of prizes is determined.

The number of prizes in any scratch game is based on the number of tickets available in it. Holiday games run for a very short period of time, so we order a much lower quantity of tickets for those games. For example, a holiday game may only be sold for two months while one of our "regular" games will likely be available for a year or more. The odds of winning in the two games are the same, it's just a difference in the number of tickets available.
