You’ll soon have a new option for checking your Powerball tickets! Powerball drawings will begin livestreaming on the Internet this month.
We’ve worked hard through the years to make sure you already have several options for checking your tickets. You can watch the drawings live on television, check the winning numbers on the lottery’s Web site at www.ialottery.com, check drawings results in your local newspaper, listen for lottery results on local radio stations, visit a lottery retailer to get a print-out of the winning numbers, or call one of our offices for the details.
But with more and more people turning to the Internet for information, adding a livestream of the drawings makes perfect sense. Powerball drawings will begin being livestreamed this month at www.powerball.com. Previous drawings also will be archived for online viewing. And, we’ll provide a link to video of the drawings on the Iowa Lottery Web site.
The livestreaming is happening through an agreement between the Urbandale-based Multi-State Lottery Association, which administers Powerball on behalf of the lotteries in the game, and TinBu LLC, a company based in Pensacola, Fla.
TinBu will connect directly with the Powerball drawing studio at Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Fla., and has the bandwidth to allow hundreds of thousands of online viewers to watch the live Powerball drawings at the same time. The system also can automatically scale up as needed when the Powerball jackpots grow and more and more people want to watch the drawings.
In addition to the Internet option, Powerball drawings are televised at 9:59 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays on these TV stations in Iowa:
• KWQC-TV in Davenport
• WOI-TV in West Des Moines
• KTVO-TV in Ottumwa
• KTIV-TV in Sioux City
• KWWL-TV in Waterloo.

Good deal!KTVO doesn't show the Powerball drawing if they are showing a football game, which is almost all of the time.
