Thanks to everyone who entered our Twitter contest today! For our question this time we asked you to tell us if you won Wednesday night’s estimated $120 million Powerball jackpot, what’s the first thing you would buy?
We had a ton of great answers to, “I’d buy my mom a house,” to “A new car!” to “Build a new wrestling room for the team I coach.” They were all great answers and fun to read. Thanks for sharing your dreams with us.
This time around we played Powerball Pong. We drew semi-finalist names from all the entries and wrote their name and answer on the bottom of cups and partially filled them with red water and then tossed ping-pong balls into the cups. The first three cups we hit were our three winners.
Congratulations to:
Round 1 Winner: @CMcTweet23
Round 2 Winner: @Danadashoop
Round 3 Winner: @katanyagdav
Our three winners today will each get $20 in Powerball coupons to play the new $2 Powerball game where there are MORE millionaires, BIGGER prizes and BETTER odds of winning. The winners have until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, to contact us to claim their prizes. Thanks to everyone who entered!

We have winners from all over Iowa, and sometimes from other states. Now, it is true that if you have more tickets being sold at a particular retail location, there will be more winners there. That is simply based upon the volume of business. The overall payout in the Iowa Lottery's games is about 55 percent, so if you have one store where 300 tickets are sold in a particular day, there likely will be about 165 winners there. That's not a hard and fast number, as winning tickets are randomly distributed, but that's about what the payout percentage would predict. If you have a store with a lower volume of business and only 20 tickets are sold there, there likely would only be 11 winners there. The odds of winning are the same for everyone, but the volume of business at a particular location makes a difference.

It's good to see without fail another contest where most of the winners chosen...again are all from Des Moines or Des Moines area..good to keep the money ideally located and this community but a person gets tired of reveiwing the winners to find the majority of the winners chosen are from just one community or a town over. Don't hear to many winners from Iowa City< Coralville, but you can have 25 winners one game alone all from Des Moines Iowa alone...kind of rigged it looks adn a waste of the other players time to be entering
