Iowa saw some big winners in this past weekend's lotto drawings, including a $250,000 winner in Friday night's Mega Millions® drawing!
That big prize has already been claimed today, with Richard Petersma of Pella taking home a big check. Richard bought his $250,000-winning ticket at Casey’s 414 Oskaloosa St. in Pella. He matched the first five numbers but missed the Mega Ball.
Someone who bought a Mega Millions ticket in Fort Atkinson won a $10,000 prize in Friday night's drawing, while a Powerball® player in Winterset won a $40,000 prize in that game's drawing on Saturday.
The $10,000-winning Mega Millions ticket was purchased at Lickety Split Convenience, 101 Third St. NW in Fort Atkinson. That lucky ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the Mega Ball in Friday’s drawing.
The $40,000-winning Powerball ticket was purchased at Casey's, 1021 N. First St. in Winterset. It initially matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball to win a $10,000 prize. But whoever purchased the lucky ticket also added the Power Play option to it, which multiplied the prize to $40,000.
Double-check your tickets to see if you have one of the big winners!
And here's an interesting wrinkle for Mega Millions players like Richard: We've been telling you for a while now about the game's redesign that takes effect with tomorrow night's drawing. One of the changes in the game increases the game's second prize from $250,000 up to $1 million! So starting tomorrow night, everyone who matches the first five numbers but misses the Mega Ball will have an even bigger reason to celebrate!
