Someone who bought a Powerball ticket at a Council Bluffs convenience store won a $1 million prize in last night’s drawing.
The winning ticket was purchased at Casey’s convenience store at 701 32nd Ave. in Council Bluffs. The $1 million-winning ticket came within one number of having at least a share of last night’s $62.9 million jackpot, matching the first five numbers but missing the Powerball.
No one matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, so the big prize climbs to an estimated $75 million annuity ($47.3 million cash option) for Wednesday. Last night’s winning numbers were: 12-14-26-48-51 and Powerball 13. The Power Play number was 3.
The Council Bluffs ticket was one of only two across the country that won a $1 million prize, with the other purchased in Florida.
Casey’s will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $1 million-winning ticket at one of its stores.
Prizes of $1 million must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. The lottery’s offices are closed on the weekends, so tomorrow is the earliest that the winner or winners will be able to claim the prize. If the person with the winning ticket has any questions about the prize-claim process, they’re welcome to call us here at the at 515-725-7900.
Four Iowa Lottery players have now claimed prizes of at least $1 million in calendar year 2017, all of them in the Powerball game.
