Thanks to everyone who joined us yesterday at the Iowa State Fair for the grand finale in our summer travel celebration! It was hot, but hey, that’s summer in Iowa, right? And we weren’t about to let some little ol’ heat stop us!
We gave away a lot of free scratch tickets in front of the Fair’s Administration Building, and then 25 lucky players in “The Silver Ticket” scratch game won $100 prizes in our final Cash Stop contest of the summer.
We had fun catching up with the Hog Hut Friends, those State Fair fans who won $1 million with a Powerball ticket they bought while they were camping at the 2009 Fair. The four friends were back at the Fair this year and they helped us pick the winning tickets in yesterday’s contest.
So how has life changed for the Hog Hut Friends since their big win? Well, Rick Hamilton and Sharon Sulser recently got married, Vickie and Terry Chambers bought a Harley, and both couples said they’ve enjoyed the feeling of paying off some bills. They all said their lottery win has made life easier!
