Back in January we were super excited to launch ticket sales in Mega Millions®, and now we've got another reason to celebrate the game!
Beginning with Tuesday’s drawing (Sept. 14), players who add the Megaplier® option to their Mega Millions play and then match all five white balls will win $1 million!
We're hoping to meet your expectations for big jackpots in the game while also giving you more chances to win other large prizes as well.
Tuesday's change will create a $1 million prize level in Mega Millions similar to the $1 million Match 5 prize that has proven so popular with Powerball players who have added the $1 Power Play® option to their tickets. In the past two years, six Iowa Lottery players have won the $1 million Match 5 prize in Powerball with the Power Play.
Prior to this change, a player who matched the first five winning numbers on his or her Mega Millions ticket won $500,000, $750,000 or $1 million, depending on that drawing's Megaplier number. With the change taking effect Tuesday, all Match 5 Megaplier prizes are $1 million, regardless of the Megaplier number drawn.
So next time you're at your favorite Lottery retailer, stop and pick up a Mega Millions ticket for just a buck, and make sure you add the Megaplier option for just an additional $1.
The Megaplier will still multiply all other non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3 or 4.
