We’ve been writing winners’ checks like crazy this week in our Pick 4 game, and they’re all coming from one particular drawing.
Last Wednesday, just one number came up in our evening Pick 4 drawing: 2-2-2-2. And a lot of people cashed in on that pick!
In that one drawing, one winner made a $2 bet on 2-2-2-2 and won a $12,000 prize; eight winners made $1 plays and each won a $6,000 prize; and 21 players made 50-cent plays and each won a $3,000 prize.
Pick 4 is a daily game that leaves most all the choices up to the player. Players can pick their own four numbers every day and choose how to play them. You choose a set of four numbers, each from 0 through 9, and you can win for matching the numbers in the exact order drawn or any order.
The Pick 4 winners who have claimed their prizes so far have been from all over the state, which makes for fun stories in community after community. We’ve seen happy winners from Iowa City, Waterloo, Davenport, Storm Lake, Des Moines, Ottumwa, Cedar Rapids, Stockton, Bettendorf, Sioux City, Burlington and Muscatine … and we’re not done yet!
The Iowa Lottery has shared Pick 3 and Pick 4 numbers with the Illinois Lottery for a number of years to simplify the drawing process. Each state’s game, however, is separate. Proceeds from the sale of Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets sold in Iowa stay in Iowa to help out valuable causes here. And, when you win a prize in Iowa’s Pick 3 and Pick 4 games, you claim it here.

Why does the Iowa lottery use the numbers drawn by the Illinois lottery on pick 3 & pick 4?
