$1 Million-Winning Powerball Ticket Sold In Des Moines

It’s happened again! Another $1 million-winning Powerball® ticket has been sold in Iowa, this time at a supermarket on the south side of Des Moines. It’s Iowa’s second $1 million winner this month in the game, and the eighth ticket in the state to win a prize of at least a million dollars so far this year.

The $1 million-winning ticket came close to winning it all, matching the first five numbers but missing the Powerball in last night’s drawing. Someone bought the winning ticket at Dahl’s, 4121 Fleur Dr. in Des Moines. The winning numbers in last night’s $152.1 million Powerball drawing were: 1-5-8-39-50 and Powerball 23.

Folks at the Dahl’s store said this morning that they hadn’t heard from a potential big winner yet, and neither have we. The waiting game is part of the process!

Players in Adair, Council Bluffs, Des Moines, Ottumwa and Webster City already have claimed $1 million Powerball prizes this year, while a group of co-workers from the Quaker Oats plant in Cedar Rapids calling themselves The Shipping 20 claimed that $241 million jackpot back in June. We’re enjoying Iowa’s lucky streak!     

No one won the jackpot in last night’s drawing, so Powerball’s big prize climbs to an estimated $174 million for Saturday.
