Cedar Rapids has been really lucky this month – in both Iowa and Nebraska.
It turns out there have been lottery prize winners of $100,000 in the past two weeks in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, AND Cedar Rapids, Neb.
Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, is a community of about 400 in the central part of that state, about 380 miles west of our Cedar Rapids here in Iowa.
On July 17, Ronald Buettner of Cedar Rapids, Neb., claimed the top prize of $100,000 in
the Nebraska Lottery’s “Turquoise Treasures” scratch game. That was his second big lottery win -- Buettner also won a $150,000 prize playing a Nebraska scratch game back in 2012.
Not to be outdone, Iowa’s Cedar Rapids came through with its own lottery luck earlier today. That’s when William Clinton, a resident of the Linn County seat, claimed a $100,000 top prize in our “Vegas Game Book” scratch game. He won the fourth of eight top prizes in that $20
game.
So, way to go, Cedar Rapids! Here’s to the winning streak continuing!
