For the second time this month, someone who bought a Mega Millions® ticket in Iowa has won a $1 million prize, with the latest in Winfield in southeastern Iowa.
A Mega Millions player who bought a ticket at a Winfield convenience store won a $1 million prize in last night’s drawing, while someone who bought a ticket in Burlington won a $1 million prize in the Nov. 10 drawing. Both prizes remain unclaimed.
The lucky ticket in Winfield was purchased at The Countree Store, 2455 120th St. in Winfield. It came close to winning at least a share of last night's $20 million jackpot, matching the first five numbers but missing the Mega Ball. No one matched all six numbers to win the jackpot last night, so the big prize climbs to an estimated $25 million annuity ($15.2 million cash option) for Tuesday's drawing.
Last night’s winning numbers were: 9-12-29-37-67 and Mega Ball 15. The Megaplier® number was 2. The Winfield ticket was one of only two across the country to win a $1 million prize, with the other in California.
The Countree Store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the lottery for selling the $1 million-winning ticket.
Six tickets purchased in Iowa have now won $1 million prizes in 2015.
The $1 million-winning ticket in Burlington that remains unclaimed was purchased at the River Mart, 2107 Agency St. in Burlington.
Prizes of $1 million must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. The lottery's offices are closed on the weekend, so the earliest that the winner or winners will be able to claim the prize is Monday. Anyone looking for more information is welcome to call us at the lottery at 515-725-7900.
