Lottery luck has struck twice for two men on opposite sides of the state. One credits his favorite superhero T-shirt for his turn of events, the other says it’s just blind luck.
The first double winner we met this week was Brandon Kaiser of Cedar Rapids. He claimed a $10,000 prize on Monday in “The BIG Ticket” scratch game after winning a $7,000 prize March 17 in the “Red Ball Tripler” scratch game. He bought both of his winning tickets at the same store: Kum & Go on 16th Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids.
On both days that he bought his winning tickets, he happened to be wearing a superhero T-shirt. He says that’s got to have something to do with his big wins, and as you can see, he had fun posing in that shirt when he claimed his prizes. (Look closely. Can you see the built-in cape on his shirt? We love that he went all out!)
Brandon told us he bought a newer vehicle with his earlier winnings, so he plans to save a majority of his latest prize for a down payment on a house. Sounds like a plan!
The next day, we got to meet Clark Voge of Cherokee. He claimed a $30,000 prize Tuesday in the “Bonus Crossword” scratch game, just as he’d done on March 9. He bought both winning tickets at the same store, too: Sparky’s on Bluff Street in Cherokee.
But Clark says he doesn’t have a winning strategy – he understands it’s just the luck of the draw, and he plans to save a majority of his winnings.
Here’s another interesting lottery tidbit of note: Have you noticed the Powerball® and Hot Lotto® jackpot amounts for tomorrow night’s drawings?
The Powerball jackpot stands at an estimated $205 million annuity ($136.4 million cash option). The Hot Lotto jackpot, meanwhile, is an estimated $2.05 million. Just two decimal points off!
