The big news we’ve been waiting for here at lottery HQ has happened: The goslings hatched this weekend! But as can be the case with Canada geese, the family is already gone from the nest this morning, and all we have left are egg shells and some goose down.
A lottery employee got a lucky photo of the family on Saturday, with four new goslings in tow by their parents. (Awwww!) I imagine they’re all cruising the lake right now that’s just around the corner from our headquarters building in Clive.
I first blogged about Mama Goose back on March 25, and now it’s April 18, so it appears our goose family was right on target for the incubation period for Canada goose eggs of 24-28 days.
Maybe our goose parents will be back next year! In the meantime, we thank them for giving us a fun view of Mother Nature to enjoy this spring.
