You’ve heard us say before that it takes months of work to bring a lottery ticket to the market, and today is a good example of that: This morning, we picked out the scratch games we’ll have for the 2016 holiday season.
We know it’s only May! But it truly does take months of planning and preparation to produce a new game. We start by thinking about the themes and price points that would be a good fit for our upcoming games. Along with those details we need to choose the artwork you’ll see on tickets in that game, the prizes it will include and all the specifics we’ll need in the rules for that particular game.
Once all that is ready, we work with our vendors to get the tickets printed and tests are done on them before they even leave the plant to ensure they’re printed correctly and look the way they should. After that, the tickets are delivered to us here at the lottery. Then we do even more tests on the game to be sure it contains the prizes it should and the tickets play the way we anticipated.
It may sound like a quick process, but it actually takes months for all that work to be completed. We know people are counting on us to get it right!
We promise not to break out the decorations just yet. But the holidays ARE on our minds today!
