Get out your lottery tickets and double-check them! There’s about month to go until two large unclaimed prizes are set to expire here in Iowa.
A $100,000 Powerball® prize that was won nearly a year ago in West Des Moines and a $12,000 Pick 4 prize that was won in October in northern Iowa are both set to expire in January if no one claims the prizes before their respective deadlines.
The unclaimed Powerball prize was won in the drawing on Jan. 13, 2016, by someone who bought a ticket at Kum & Go, 7265 Vista Drive in West Des Moines. The lucky ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball that night to initially win a $50,000. But whoever bought the ticket also added the Power Play option to the play, so their prize multiplied to $100,000. The winning numbers that night were: 4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10.
The winner or winners of this prize have until the close of business at 4 p.m. on Jan. 13, 2017, to claim the prize at one of our offices.
