A central Iowa man has won the biggest jackpot offered to date in an InstaPlay game!
Nick Keeling of Norwalk claimed his prize of $173,725 this morning at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.
Keeling, 30, a plumber, said he was on his way to work Saturday when he stopped at the Indy 66, 2001 W. Second Ave. in Indianola, and bought a ticket in the JACKPOT PARTY® Progressive InstaPlay game. He won $20 on it, so he decided to buy another ticket – and won the jackpot.
JACKPOT PARTY is a $10 InstaPlay game with a top prize that starts at $10,000 and grows with each ticket sold across the state until it’s won. The jackpot had been growing for nearly two months before Keeling won his big prize on Saturday.
Prior to Keeling’s win, the biggest InstaPlay prize had been a jackpot of $50,197.25 that was won Jan. 2 in the Jumbo Bucks Progressive game by Donna Smith of Tama.

Hi, Wanda. It's good to hear from you here on the blog! In the instance you have described, the equipment at your local lottery retailer would have had the correct information for our drawing results. The equipment there that you use to scan your lottery tickets is tied directly to the Iowa Lottery's central system, where the official results are recorded for our drawings. I'm afraid it is the other sources you found online that provided incorrect results. Please always do your best to get drawing results directly from us here at the Iowa Lottery. You can visit our website at www.ialottery.com, and we also now have an app that you can install on your mobile phone or smart device so that you can find all of our info. there. Here is a link to the page where you can learn about the Iowa Lottery app: https://ialottery.com/Pages/Games/MobileApp.aspx

I want to complain about a computer error at a local Hy-Vee. I have found twice that the Powerball numbers, that I have looked up on-line are NOT being recognized by their computer. I only had 1 number 32 on the August 1 drawing. However, I know it has happened to me before and for just $2 and the counter was BUSY I didn't want to make an issue! I am letting off steam here and WANT TO KNOW HOW DO I BRING THIS TO THE STORE'S ATTENTION?

Hello, and thanks for reaching out here on the blog. Just to clarify, these were not the first tickets that Nick Keeling bought. He said he's a regular player and really likes the InstaPlay games. What we talked about in the blog were the two tickets he bought that morning. We completely agree with you that playing the lottery is something that anyone who plays does just for fun. And if playing the lottery is causing you worry or strain, then please don't do it. I mean that sincerely. Our saying is that "Playing smart is a lot more fun!"

I am always happy for anyone that wins, but it is frustrating for those of us who seem to buy more than our fair amount of tickets and don't ever win large amounts of money!
I can't tell u how many of these tickets I bought this last 2 months here and there!
We all know being in the right place at the right time is all it takes, but it slays me someone buys their very first ticket of any kind and hits it big!
Playing the games can be entertaining, the proceeds go to help fund crucial Iowa programs which is very important but we all know winning some money is our main goal!
I think I'm about ready to give up on the lottery!
U know the saying, " If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all!"
