Powerball’s giant jackpot run has ended, while Mega Millions® is still rolling. Four Iowa tickets were just one number away from having a share of last night’s Powerball jackpot that topped $1 billion.
Last night’s $1.08 billion Powerball® jackpot was won by a ticket purchased in California. With that game’s grand prize now returning to its starting amount, the bulk of the jackpot attention is on Mega Millions, where the grand prize stands at an estimated $720 million annuity, $369.6 million lump-sum option for that game’s next drawing tomorrow night. That’s the 5th-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.
This week marked just the 2nd time that the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots had simultaneously topped $700 million.

The Latest Winning Numbers, Iowa Sales
The winning numbers in last night’s Powerball drawing were: 7-10-11-13-24 and Powerball 24. The Power Play number was 2.

The Powerball/Mega Ball Can Be The Same As …?
With lots of first-time and occasional players buying tickets now, questions have come up about the winning numbers in last night’s Powerball drawing. The Powerball that night – 24 -- was the same number as one of the first five white balls. That can occur and is exactly how Powerball and Mega Millions are designed to work.
Remember that there are two separate sets of numbers involved in the drawings. Players choose five numbers from one pool for the white balls and one number from a different pool for the Powerball or Mega Ball, depending on the game.
It’s always possible that the Powerball/Mega Ball will be the same number as one of the five white balls.
