A woman reached out to us this month to share that she really doesn’t like our promotions that offer ticket prize packages to events like concerts and sports events. She said she plays the lottery for the chance to win MONEY, and nothing else.
And we get it. You’ve often heard us say through the years that cash is king. So, we’ll definitely keep offering games and promotions that offer cash prizes.
But we also know that variety is the spice of life. And for that reason, we mix in games and promotions that offer other types of prizes. We’ve given away cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles and ATVs, ticket packages for concerts and sports events, and luxury items including home entertainment systems and vacations to warm-weather destinations.
Our current promotions are a perfect example of that: The Countdown to Carver™ promotion offers ticket prize packages to Iowa women’s and men’s basketball games and men’s wrestling meets, while the Million Dollar Holiday promotion offers a total of $1 million in cash prizes.
We’ll keep changing things up, knowing that different people have different tastes. If you don’t see something you like at the moment, just know we switch out our line-ups just about every month!
Why does my check tickets app only work half the time? It either checks the ticket or says Web page could not be loaded. it happens checking one ticket or during checking multiple tickets.

I agree 100%! Cash only! Should also be more wins of up to a half million dollars instead of letting the game run to billions, then having someone from out of state win -- and keep the money there.

I would like to see guaranteed prize amounts for roll quantity...other states (Texas is one) offer this on their websites. Letting players know guaranteed prizes per roll.

Hi, Barbara. Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate hearing from you. I will clarify one point that you raised: In the case of prizes we offer that are vehicles/snowmobiles/ATVs, etc., we include in the prize total the amount in taxes on the item so our winner is never left with a tax bill when they win. In some instances as you have referenced, that might mean a winner could not afford to claim the prize.

I agree--get rid of the promo products for prizes. I think the prizes serve the sponsors more than the lottery players. I highly doubt that many (percentage-wise) are buying for the prize/promo. If it had an option to choose cash instead of the prize that would be better. But it would have to be a true equal value of the prize offered. i.e. a Truck--retail value $65K --many can't afford the tax and tags on a truck. But they do need the $65K. And they would probably rather get the new car or truck of their choosing. Or use the money for some other need. Isn't there a way to do promos for VIP prizes where the sponsors (prizes) can be chosen for cash instead of the prize? i.e. If I am a single person--and you are offering trips for families or tickets for four to games--it is not very likely I can use them if I win. Esp if they are to Disney or Sports events that I don't follow. Just because we live in Iowa--doesn't mean we are all Hawkeye sports fans. Or we all eat Pork or other promo prizes. That is the point. A lot of the prizes make a lot of assumptions. And it is disappointing because they are geared toward mostly sports fans --families-- groups--or assume that you have money to pay taxes on a large win. Come up with a Promo--to Pay my DEBT--Pay my Bills--FIX my Home--Set me up for RETIREMENT. PAY off my MORTGAGE....Stuff like that.
