Here’s an interesting question we got this week from a player who had bought a ticket in the “$250,000 Riches” game: What does its “instant bonus” section mean when it comes to the prize someone wins?
The man who contacted us wondered if any winnings in the bonus section would be in addition to the amount that the lottery terminal shows the ticket has won when the barcode on the ticket is scanned.
The quick answer is that the total winnings on a ticket are shown when the barcode is scanned. Think of it like the “total” line on a sales receipt – everything from that transaction is included in the total. So, for example, if the barcode on a particular ticket is scanned and it shows that the ticket has won a $100 prize, those are the winnings from the entire ticket, not just a portion of its play area.
On a $250,000 Riches ticket, any winnings in the “instant bonus” area are in addition to the winnings from Games 1-5 in the play area. But those winnings are not in addition to the grand total for that ticket.
Have a great weekend, everyone! Stay safe in the heat.
