One $2 Million Powerball Prize Claimed, Another Still Up For Grabs

One huge Powerball® prize was claimed this week, and we're still waiting to hear from the winner of a second multimillion-dollar prize!

Danny Buckelew of Treynor stopped by lottery headquarters yesterday to claim his $2 million Powerball prize. He matched all five white balls in the drawing on Oct. 7, 2023, and was just one number away from winning that night's $1.4 billion jackpot! Buckelew bought his easy-pick ticket at Casey's, 403 Stephans St. in Tiffin.

The winning numbers in the Oct. 7 drawing were 47-54-57-60-65 and Powerball 19. The Power Play number was 3.

Meanwhile, another $2 million Powerball prize remains unclaimed nearly two months after it was won! That ticket matched all five white balls in the drawing on Nov. 25, 2023, and was purchased at Clinton Liquor, 1641 S. Bluff Blvd. in Clinton.

The winning numbers in that drawing were 27-33-63-66-68 and Powerball 9. The Power Play number was 2.

Prizes of this size must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. The deadline to claim this $2 million prize is the close of business on May 23, 2024.

Prize Of $25,000 A Year For Life In Lucky For Life Game Won In Williamsburg

Someone who bought a Lucky for Life® ticket at a Williamsburg convenience store won a prize of $25,000 a year for life in last night’s drawing.

It’s Iowa’s 18th big win in Lucky for Life since the game’s January 2016 debut in our state.

The ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Lucky Ball in last night’s Lucky for Life drawing to win the game’s second prize of $25,000 a year for life. The winning ticket was purchased at the Casey’s, 602 S. Highland St. in Williamsburg.

The winning numbers in last night’s Lucky for Life drawing were: 1-7-20-21-38 and Lucky Ball 15. Casey’s will receive a $500 bonus from the lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Lucky for Life is a $2 game with drawings each night. The game’s top two prize levels are described as “lasting as long as you do,” meaning that they are truly for life. The minimum guaranteed payout for those two prize levels is 20 years, and there’s a lump-sum option for players who want that rather than lifetime annuity payments.

Powerball Ticket Purchased in Northern Iowa Wins $2 Million Prize

A Powerball ticket purchased in northern Iowa won $2 Million in Monday's drawing.

The lucky ticket was purchased at Casey's, 1132 Highway 69 S. in Forest City and came within one number of winning last night's $403.9 million jackpot. It matched all five white balls but missed the Powerball to win a $1 million prize. But whoever bought the ticket also added the Power Play® option to the purchase, which multiplies the prize at the Match 5 level to $2 million.

The Forest City ticket was the only one in the country to win a $2 million prize in Monday’s drawing.

Monday’s winning numbers were: 3-6-11-17-22 and Powerball 11. The Power Play number was 2. No one matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, so the big prize climbs to an estimated $420 million annuity ($215.2 million lump-sum option) for Wednesday.

Casey’s will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $2 million-winning ticket.

Prizes of $2 million must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. The lottery’s offices are open Monday through Friday, and prize claims are currently available by appointment. The winner or winners of the Forest City prize can call the lottery at 515-725-7900 to make an appointment to claim it.

 

 

 

Ticket Purchased In SW Iowa Wins Prize Of $25,000 A Year For Life

Someone who bought a lottery ticket at a southwest Iowa convenience store has won a prize of $25,000 a year for life in the Lucky for Life game.

An Atlantic ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Lucky Ball in last night’s drawing to win Lucky for Life’s second prize of $25,000 a year for life. The winning ticket was purchased at Casey’s, 701 Poplar St. in Atlantic.

It is Iowa’s ninth big winner in the game since it debuted in January 2016 in our state.

Lucky for Life is a $2 game with drawings twice a week, at 9:38 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. The game’s top two prize levels are described as “lasting as long as you do,” meaning that they are truly for life. The minimum guaranteed payout for those two prize levels is 20 years, and there is a lump-sum option for players who prefer that rather than lifetime annuity payments.

The winning numbers in last night’s Lucky for Life drawing were: 25-28-32-47-48 and Lucky Ball 14. Casey’s will receive a $500 bonus from the lottery for selling the winning ticket at one of its locations.

This prize must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. During the current public health emergency, public access to lottery offices is restricted to email and telephone. Players can call 515-725-7900 and schedule a curbside claim, mail or ship their winning tickets to the lottery to claim prizes or utilize the secure dropbox option at the Clive location. Ticket Purchased In Hardin County Area Wins $1 Million Prize

Someone who bought a Mega Millions® ticket at a Hardin County convenience store won a $1 million prize in last night’s drawing.

It’s the sixth prize of at least $1 million won in Iowa so far this year.

The $1 million-winning ticket was purchased at Casey’s, 1807 Edgington Ave. in Eldora. The ticket came within one number of having at least a share of last night’s $372 million Mega Millions jackpot.

The Eldora ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Mega Ball to win a $1 million prize. It was one of three tickets across the country to win a $1 million prize in last night’s drawing. A $2 million-winning ticket was sold in Pennsylvania, and a single ticket purchased in Ohio won Tuesday night’s jackpot.

Last night’s winning numbers were: 22-30-53-55-56 and Mega Ball 16. The Megaplier® number was 2. 

Casey’s will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $1 million-winning ticket at one of its stores.

Only In Iowa: Powerball Players Have Chance At $1 Million Prize

Now is your chance: For the next three weeks, Powerball® players in Iowa can enter a promotion for a shot at a $1 million prize.

Any Powerball ticket purchased in Iowa from today through 8:59 a.m. on June 18 can be entered into the “Woo Hoo A Million For You Giveaway.” After the three-week entry period, we’ll hold a drawing on June 19 to determine the winner of the promotion’s $1 million prize.

Call it our version of recycling! Back in April, a $1 million Powerball prize expired in central Iowa without being claimed. Someone bought that ticket at a Casey’s store in Nevada for the Powerball drawing on April 11, 2018. But the prize was never claimed, so it expired on April 11 of this year.

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time a $1 million prize has ever gone unclaimed in Iowa. We repeatedly called attention to the prize to try to find the winner, and now we’re dedicating our efforts to ensuring that this prize money finds its way to a new Iowa Lottery winner.

This is a truly Iowa-made effort: Our leadership team at the Iowa Lottery thought through how we could give away this $1 million, one of the district sales representatives in our Cedar Rapids office came up with the promotion name, and only Powerball tickets purchased in Iowa can be entered into the promotion for a shot at the prize.

Please note this important detail: Simply buying a Powerball ticket during the next three weeks won’t automatically enter you into the promotion. You’ve heard us say many times that the money from lottery prizes that expire without being claimed in Iowa goes into our prize pools for future games and promotions. Well, this big unclaimed prize gives us the chance to demonstrate that!

Each eligible Powerball ticket entered will count as one entry into the promotion, regardless of the number of plays on it or how many drawings the plays may span.

The lottery retailer that sells the promotion’s $1 million-winning ticket will receive a $1,000 bonus from the lottery. That also was the case with the $1 million ticket in Nevada: Even though it was never claimed, Casey’s still got a $1,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling that ticket at one of its stores. Our retailers work hard every day to sell our tickets, and this is one more way we can thank them.
