Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game Ending Next Month

We're making a change in the line-up of lotto games that we sell here in Iowa. We're ending one of our games and plan to replace it with a new product that continues to offer a top prize of $100,000.

The final drawing in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game will be on Saturday, Jan. 25. We’re putting the finishing touches on plans for the game that will replace it and we’ll make that announcement soon.

From our sales figures, we can tell that the $100,000 Cash Game appears to have a core group of fans. But its sales are well down from the levels it saw when it started back in 1992.

We've updated our other lotto games several times through the years - think about the redesigns you've seen in Powerball®, Mega Millions® and Hot Lotto®. We think that by refreshing our lotto product with a top prize of $100,000, we can bring in an interesting new concept for players to check out.

As the end date for the Cash Game approaches, you’ll notice that the number of plays you can buy for its drawings in advance will decrease. Starting today, advance plays will be limited to 24 and that number will continue to decrease by one for each upcoming drawing until the game's end.

We'll have an announcement soon about a replacement game that will have the same $1 price point and several drawings each week.

Deadline Approaching For $100,000 Prize In Burlington!

The expiration deadline is coming up for a $100,000 lottery prize won in Burlington that’s still unclaimed, so double-check your tickets!

The unclaimed prize was won in Iowa’s $100,000 Cash Game by someone who bought a ticket at the Jet Stop South convenience store, 901 South St. in Burlington. The lucky ticket matched all five numbers selected in the Cash Game drawing on March 25 to win the game’s top prize. The winning numbers that night were: 8-12-25-26-33.The winner or winners have until the close of business at 4 p.m. June 24 to claim the prize.

March Facebook Contest

UPDATE: We’re extending the entry period for our March Facebook contest by another 24 hours and doubling the number of prize packages available in it! You now have until 11 a.m. tomorrow (March 13, 2013) to enter the contest. Here’s why:      

Yesterday, we sent an email reminding our VIP Club members that our March contest was starting March 11 and gave the link to enter. Unfortunately, the link was incorrect. It provided direction to information about our February contest rather than our March contest.

More than 1,400 people had entered our March contest as of this morning, so we know a lot of you got it right! However, we apologize for the error and want to do our best to make it right.

Talk about a coincidence! Two tickets that each won the top prize in last night’s drawing of Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game were both purchased at CB Liquor, 1202 A Ave. E. in Oskaloosa. 

We love when bizarre coincidences like this happen, because it leaves us wondering: did one person purchase two identical tickets for this drawing? Did a husband and wife each play the same numbers? We can’t wait to find out!

The winning numbers drawn last night in the Cash Game were: 7-13-25-26-33. Both tickets matched all five numbers to take home the top prize of $100,000.

HOLY COW! Four Big Prizes, Including Powerball Jackpot, All Won In Iowa Last Night

Just for one night, Iowa may have been the luckiest place on earth!
In Wednesday night’s lotto drawings, Iowa Lottery players won a $202.1 million Powerball® jackpot,
a $1 million Powerball prize, a $10,000 Powerball prize AND a top prize in Iowa’s $100,000 Cash Game. Whew!

So you’ve got your tickets out and you’re checking them, right? (hint, hint…) As our CEO Terry Rich said this morning, if there’s ever a time to double-check your tickets, this is it!!

Here’s the 411 on the winning tickets:

•    The jackpot-winning ticket matched all six numbers selected in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing to win the big prize. The jackpot winner was purchased at: Casey’s General Store, 1455 Grant St. in Bondurant.
•    The $1 million-winning ticket came close to having a share of the jackpot, matching the first five numbers but missing the Powerball. That ticket was purchased at another Casey’s location, at 130 W. Evans St. in Williamsburg.
•    The $10,000-winning ticket also was just one number away from having a share of the jackpot. That ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball. It was purchased at the Big 10 Mart, 1225 Boyson Road in Hiawatha.
The winning numbers in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing were: 13-26-39-41-42 and
Powerball 10.
•    And, the top prize-winning ticket in Iowa’s $100,000 Cash Game was purchased at Hy-Vee Gas, 2632 Ave. L in Fort Madison.

The winning numbers in Wednesday’s drawing of the $100,000 Cash Game were: 2-6-18-25-33.

Powerball jackpot winners can choose to receive their prizes in annuitized payments over time or as a one-time, lump-sum payment. If the winner(s) chooses the annuity option for Wednesday’s jackpot, it will be made in 30 payments over 30 years totaling $202.1 million before taxes, with the annual amount increasing over time to accommodate for inflation. If the winner(s) chooses the cash option, he or she will receive about $129.8 million before taxes.

Wow, What A Night For Iowa Lottery Players!

Here are the initial details we know about the shower of big winners we’re seeing here in Iowa from last night’s lotto drawings! More details to come as we have them…

Iowa Lottery players had perhaps their winningest night ever last night, winning four big prizes in Powerball® and Iowa’s $100,000 Cash Game.
 
Someone who bought a ticket in Iowa won last night’s $202.1 million Powerball jackpot to become the second-biggest lottery winner ever in the state and Iowa’s second Powerball jackpot winner this year. Another Iowa player won a $1 million Powerball prize last night and yet another won a $10,000 Powerball prize. And, someone won the top prize of $100,000 in last night’s drawing of Iowa’s $100,000 Cash Game.

Due to of the large number of big prizes involved, the Iowa Lottery’s processing of the winning information is expected to take longer than usual. Further details, including the locations where the winning tickets were sold, will be released as soon as possible later today.
